COPPER CREEK VENTURES LTD. ENCOUNTERS 34' OF COALS ON SECOND COALBED METHANE TEST WELL
VANCOUVER-July 3, 2002--Mr. Bing Jung, president of Copper Creek Ventures Ltd. (CPV : TSX Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce that the operator of the Green River Basin Project has informed the Company that the State #1-36 coalbed methane test well on the East Salt Wells Creek Prospect has reached total depth at 1,928'. The well encountered 34' of total Lance and Almond coals. The operator reports that 297' of the Almond Coal section was cored. Open hole logs indicate excellent development of the coals with abundant gas shows recorded on the gas detection equipment. In addition to the well-developed Almond Coals, the well encountered approximately 10' of Almond Sandstone at a depth of 1,830'. While production casing was being set, the well began flowing gas and burned an approximate 25' flare. The well was shut-in and mud was circulated to contain the blowout. Electric logs indicate an approximate 6' of net pay. Production casing has been cemented in the hole and the we!
ll will be tested later. The operator will complete the gas desorption analysis from the cores after which completion of the well will proceed.
The drilling of the State #1-36 and the previously announced True Federal #31-1 completes the Company's initial exploratory phase for the East Salt Wells Creek Prospect. After completion of the gas desorption analysis and testing of the initial two wells the Company will participate in the next phase of development that will involve the drilling of up to ten additional wells. Drilling application and permitting are underway and development of the prospect will begin upon approval.
